Weekend TBR: The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig
There is truly no better way to spend a gloomy, rainy weekend than curled up with a blanket, a good fantasy book, and two very cozy cats. And this weekend? It's a no brainer because Rachel Gillig’s newest release, The Knight and the Moth, just came out on May 20th, and I cannot wait to dive in.
If you’ve read One Dark Window, you know. That book was one of my monthly book club picks and it absolutely enchanted me, the gorgeous writing, haunting magic, and characters that live in your head rent-free. I went straight into Twisted Crowns after that, and it was over for me. Gillig had me.
I’ll admit I was a little behind when The Stonewater Kingdom came out, but not this time. The second The Knight and the Moth hit shelves, I knew it would be my weekend read. And I don’t know about you, but when the weather turns all moody and dramatic, it feels like the universe is handing you permission to unplug and disappear into a new world.
This is the kind of book that makes you cancel your Saturday plans in advance.. because let’s be real, once I start reading, I won’t be putting it down. I’m already anticipating the emotional damage and the late-night “just one more chapter” chaos.
PS: Nothing makes fantasy reading better than two cats sleeping beside you like tiny, judgmental reading companions. Honestly, does anyone else read out loud to their pets and update them throughout the book like they’ve been following along since chapter one? Just me?
I like to think my cats live in their own little fantasy realm, the way I treat them like royalty. They don’t need to escape into another world, they’re already the main characters in this one. I’m just their emotional support human, narrating the chaos while they nap through it.
If you’re also spending your weekend wrapped in a blanket with a book and a hot drink, you’re in the right place. Spellbound Shelf was made for cozy fantasy readers like us. We’ve even got a few pieces of bookish apparel if you want to look the part while reading your next emotionally devastating novel.
Check out our fantasy merch collection and treat yourself to something worthy of a main character moment.
And if you missed it, I recently wrote about how I got completely tricked by an ACOTAR April Fools’ prank.. read that chaos here.
Have you picked up The Knight and the Moth yet? Let me know if it’s on your TBR, or if you’ve already started and are emotionally unwell.. I’ll meet you there soon.
